Location and Geology

Wadi al Lith is located along the western red sea coastal plain, 160 km south of Jeddah, the area consists of rugged mountainous terrain. The area is dissected by several wadi which flow southward to the red sea. The area underlain by the late Proterozoic volcanics, volcaniclastic and sedimentary layered rocks as narrow northeast trending belts later intruded by the younger plutonic rocks ranging in composition from gabbro to diorite to granite.

Previous Exploration Work

Wadi al Lith area was covered by the regional reconnaissance and prospecting program conducted by the Riofinex.

Mineralization and Prospectively

The mineralization at Wadi al Lith area was found to be in association with siliceous volcanic rocks. It appears as massive pyrite and occasionally as massive ironstone. The mineral prospecting program completed in the area outlined several areas of siliceous volcanic rocks which inferred to constitute an attractive environment for the development of volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits (VMS).
