Mining License

Mining License

Mining license gives the investor the right to mine and exploit the specified Classes A & B minerals. In addition, it allows the investor to transfer and sell the exploited minerals along with full operational rights.

  • The application site should be within the valid exploration license area.
  • When renewing the license, the application must be submitted at least (180) days prior to the expiration date of the license.
  • Provide a plan for managing the environmental and social impact (the plan is updated upon license renewal request).
  • Provide a plan for rehabilitation and closure (the plan is updated upon license renewal request).
  • Provide an economic feasibility study for the exploitation of ores and minerals.
  • Provide evidence of technical competence and financial capability.
  • Provide financial guarantee.

The license is issued for a duration of 30 years, and renewable for an additional 30 years. 

The total duration of the license and its renewal does not exceed 60 years.

Small mine license gives the investor the right to mine and exploit the specified Classes A & B minerals. In addition, it allows the investor to transfer and sell the exploited minerals along with full operational rights.

Building Materials License

Building materials quarry license gives the investor the right to mine and exploit the specified Class C minerals. In addition, it allows the investor to transfer and sell the exploited minerals along with full operational rights.

Reconnaissance License

The reconnaissance license allows investors to reconnoiter for targeted minerals by visiting the chosen areas. In addition, the license allows investors to collect samples from the designated land, and the license gives access to the relevant data and maps from Saudi Geological Survey (SGS).

Surplus raw materials license

The surplus raw materials license enables the transportation of mineral ores belonging to Category (C) from the site to external locations for the purpose of selling or utilizing them, on the condition that they are located within project sites or privately owned lands.

General purposes license

The license allows the investor holding the mining license or small mining to establish facilities or use lands outside the license site for the purpose of achieving public objectives.
